SOUTHERN BOY

I made these photographs in the lowcountry of South Carolina during the winter of 2020, right before the world shut down. In this series, I followed my little brother, Jack, and the Hilton Head Christian Academy's target shooting team through their season of practices, meets, at home activities, and overall southern boy lifestyle. I wanted to explore the culture that gets a certain kind of bad reputation and stereotype from mainstream media and show an insiders perspective into what might be scary or unfamiliar to some people, but completely normal every day life to others. 

All images in this series are scans of 11x14 silver gelatin prints from 35mm film.
